When you sync a playlist, we fetch the lyrics for each song and run them through our fine-tuned GPT-4o-mini model. The model has been specifically trained on orthodox Christian theology to evaluate lyrics across several dimensions:

• Alignment with biblical teaching and values
• Identification of positive spiritual themes
• Detection of concerning content or messages
• Relevant scripture references for context

The result is a comprehensive analysis with a numerical score, verdict, and detailed explanation to aid your personal discernment.

Every song is evaluated against 35+ biblical themes. Here's what we look for:

Positive Themes (increase the score):

Each theme is anchored to specific Scripture references. The analysis explains which themes were found and why they matter for your spiritual formation.

Each song receives a score from 0 to 100 based on its alignment with biblical principles. Scores fall into four tiers:

• Listen Freely (85-100)
• Use Discernment (60-84)
• Approach with Care (40-59)
• Not Recommended (0-39)

These scores are tools for discernment, not definitive judgments. We encourage you to read the full analysis and prayerfully consider each song in your own walk with Christ.

Yes. Your privacy is important to us. We only access your playlists and basic profile information through your music provider's official authorization flow (Apple Music MusicKit). Your listening data stays private and is never shared with third parties. We store only the minimum data needed to provide analysis results. You can export or delete all your data at any time from your profile settings. We comply with GDPR and standard data protection practices.

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Settings page or the Subscription Management page. When you cancel, your access continues until the end of your current billing period — you will not be charged again. If you change your mind, you can resume your subscription before it expires. Your pricing tier is preserved for 90 days, so you can return at the same rate. You can also choose to downgrade to the Free plan instead, which lets you keep your account with limited access.

Music Disciple currently supports Apple Music. You sign in with your Apple ID and connect your Apple Music library — we only need read-only access to your playlists. We never modify your library or playlists.

No — that's the whole point. Music Disciple analyzes any song, regardless of genre. Whether it's pop, hip-hop, country, rock, or worship, we evaluate the lyrics against biblical principles. The goal is to help you understand what messages are in the music you're already listening to — not to limit you to a single genre.

Most songs are analyzed in under 60 seconds. When you sync a playlist, songs are queued and processed one by one — you can watch the progress in real time on your dashboard. Once a song has been analyzed, the results are cached so you'll see them instantly if the same song appears in another playlist.

Yes. Each analyzed playlist has a shareable link you can send to friends, your small group, or your worship team. The shared view shows song scores and verdicts without requiring the recipient to have an account. It's a great way to start conversations about what you're listening to.
